The Tribeca Youth Screening Series® is a media literacy program offered to public schools throughout New York City that uses varying genres of film to enhance students’ academic engagement and foster critical thinking skills. Throughout the academic school year, professional filmmakers facilitate in-class workshops on the essential components of narrative storytelling, while guiding students to deconstruct social themes illustrated in film. The classroom experience coincides with field trips to the Tribeca Cinemas, as well as cultural centers, where students participate in thematic film screenings, interact with film directors, and engage each other through interactive post-screening activities.
